    Fault Detection with Optimum March Test Algorithm

    This paper presents a research work aimed to detect previously-undetected faults, either Write Disturb Faults (WDFs) or Deceptive Read Destructive Faults (DRDFs) or both in March Algorithm such as MATS++(6N), March C-(10N), March SR(14N), and March CL(12N). The main focus of this research is to improve fault coverage on Single Cell Faults as well as Static Double Cell Faults detection, using specified test algorithm. Transition Coupling Faults (CFtrs), Write Destructive Coupling Faults (CFwds) and Deceptive Read Destructive Faults (CFdrds) are types of faults mainly used in this research. The experiment result published in [1] shows BIST (Built-In-Self-Test) implementation with the new algorithm. It provides the same test length but with bigger area overhead, we therefore proposed a new 14N March Test Algorithm with fault coverage of more than 95% using solid 0s and 1s Data Background (DB). This paper reveals the design methodology to generate DB covers all memories function by applying non-transition data, transition data, and single read and double read data. The automation hardware was designed to give the flexibility to the user to generate other new March Algorithm prior to the selected algorithm and analyzed the performance in terms of fault detection and power consumption

    Image enhancement technique at different distance for Iris recognition

    Capturing eye images within visible wavelength illumination in the non-cooperative environment lead to the low quality of eye images. Thus, this study is motivated to investigate the effectiveness of image enhancement technique that able to solve the abovementioned issue. A comparative study has been conducted in which three image enhancement techniques namely Histogram Equalization (HE), Adaptive Histogram Equalization (AHE) and Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) were evaluated and analysed. UBIRIS.v2 eye image database was used as a dataset to evaluate those techniques. Moreover, each of enhancement techniques was tested against the different distance of eye image captured. Results were compared in terms of image interpretation by using Peak-Signal Noise Ratio (PSNR), Absolute Mean Brightness Error (AMBE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). The effectiveness of the enhancement techniques on the different distance of image captured was evaluated using the False Acceptance Rate (FAR) and False Rejection Rate (FRR). As a result, CLAHE has proven to be the most reliable technique in enhancing the eye image which improved the localization accuracy by 7%. In addition, the results showed that by implementing CLAHE technique at a four-meter distance was an ideal distance to capture eye images in a non-cooperative environment where it provides high recognition accuracy, 74%

    Design of an asymmetrical rotor for easy assembly and repair of field windings in synchronous machines

    This paper introduces a new asymmetrical rotor design for easy assembly and repair of field windings in synchronous machines. A new rotor geometry is adopted in order to simplify the manufacture and maintenance process of installing the rotor windings. The asymmetrical rotor design is simulated by the 2-D finite element analysis (FEA), and verified by experimental tests on a 27.5 kVA prototype machine. The proposed topology can drive down the maintenance and repair costs of the machine without impacting on the machine’s electro-magnetic performance. This design will have significant economic implications for machine design and repair industry, especially for mass production markets such as wind turbines and engine-generators

    Unveiling the Efficiency of Vermicompost Derived from Different Biowastes on Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Plant Growth and Soil Health

    The present study was conducted to explore the role of different types of vermicomposts (VCs) prepared from different substrates to improve soil health (physical and chemical properties) and wheat plant growth under field conditions. Different combinations of vermicompost prepared from different substrates (cow dung, paper waste, and rice straw) and inorganic fertilizers were applied in soil using wheat as a test plant. The impact of three different VCs on physico-chemical characteristics and nutrient availability in soil was evaluated to examine their efficacy in combination with chemical fertilizers. Temporal trends in vermicomposting treatments at various stages showed significant improvement in physico-chemical attributes of the VCs substrates. All the plant physiological attributes showed significant response where N: P: K 100:50:50 kg ha?1 + 10 t ha?1 cow dung vermicompost was applied. In addition, post-harvest analysis of soil not only revealed that different combinations of the vermicomposting treatments improved the soil health by improving the physico-chemical attributes of the soil. Conclusively, application of cow dung vermicompost along with recommended NPK not only improved crop yield, soil health, reduced insect (aphid) infestation but also fortified grains with Zn and Fe. © 2019 by the authors.7527, 9017; Provozn?
